BUY LESS, CHOOSE WELL, MAKE IT LAST
‘I’m not trying to do something different, I’m trying to do the same thing in a different way.’
— Vivienne Westwood
Fashion creates products which are too often disposable, and which – through their creation, distribution and eventual disposal – can have a disproportionately negative impact on our planet, its wildlife and people.
We know this and we know we must do better. We must reflect the growing urgency to change how the industry operates and, in this time of Climate Crisis, we must go further. For Vivienne Westwood, this includes, amongst others, working on material sourcing, our work with artisan creatives and supply chain due diligence, Â traceability and circularity.
We exist to do more than just produce clothes and accessories. As one of the last independent global fashion brands, we have the unique opportunity to continually challenge ourselves and reflect on our current practices and future improvements.
We are proud of the changes we have made so far. We understand there is so much more to do. The following pages will provide an overview of our strategic actions and opportunities for progress.
Our Preferred Materials
We look beyond the aesthetic qualities of the materials we use. As we navigate the deep complexities of fashion supply chains, we are gradually gaining a better understanding of where our materials come from through auditing and traceability activities and projects.
