Vivienne Westwood x George Cox
14/04/2026 — Vivienne Westwood
This season, we have collaborated with heritage English shoemaker George Cox to present a limited-edition collection of unisex footwear for Spring-Summer 2026. The connection between George Cox and Vivienne Westwood began in the early 1970s, when George Cox brothel creepers first appeared in the Let It Rock shop. Malcolm McLaren’s early acquisition of a pair from Mr Freedom marked the beginning of a lasting creative alliance, rooted in authenticity, craftsmanship, and a shared spirit of cultural rebellion.
“To reunite again on a project 50 years on is a testament to that legacy, and to the power to continue inspiring people today and for aeons to come." - Alistair Waterfield, Designer, Product and Creative Manager, fifth generation George Cox
With deep roots in pop culture, George Cox footwear has long been a cornerstone of subcultural style, from the Teddy Boys to the Punks. Both Vivienne Westwood and George Cox share a commitment to British counterculture. From the charged atmosphere of King’s Road to stages and streets across generations, footwear became a marker of self-expression and belonging. At the centre of the collaboration is the ‘Creeper’ silhouette. Honouring its 75th anniversary, three distinct styles have been developed from an original pointed-toe design. The collaboration underscores a mutual dedication to craftsmanship, where hallmarks of the original silhouette remain: the classic crepe sole, the tactile weight of the construction, and the signature basketweave-style interlace. Today, the ‘Creeper’ is not simply a shoe; but an artefact of cultural memory, shaped by those who wore it with intention.
For Spring-Summer 2026, the Point Toe Monk shoe features a studded belt and buckle clasp, referencing the archival Vivienne Westwood Alex Belt, complete with embossed branding and an elevated chunky crepe sole. The Point Toe Monk is available in a two-tone black and white or monochromatic all black leather upper, while the Hatton Derby features a high shine snake-effect print upper and chunky crepe sole. With this collection, Vivienne Westwood and George Cox reaffirm the significance of the style, as a continuing expression of identity, shaped anew by each generation that chooses to wear it.
