Vivienne Westwood partnered with CLO Virtual Fashion’s digital fashion platform, CONNECT, to host a global 3D design competition, reinforcing a shared vision at the intersection of heritage and innovation, powered by Epic Games’ Unreal Engine and MetaHuman technology.
Inspired by signature Vivienne Westwood design techniques and the house’s ethos of drawing on historical and cultural references to inform modern design and ideas, the challenge invited creators to reimagine historical aesthetics through a futuristic lens within the CLO, Marvelous Designer and MetaHuman universe.
The design concept, Cut, Slash & Corset, was rooted in heritage references, including corsetry and tartan. Beginning with traditional structures that shape and define the body, these elements were cut, slashed and pulled - reworked and reasserted.
By merging cultural heritage with cutting-edge real-time technology, the initiative champions a new era of digital craftsmanship - where storytelling and high-fidelity design converge to shape the future of fashion in virtual worlds.
